There are a lot of software that supports telnetRFC2217 serial port forwarding.It allows you to run the server and the client on linux or windows machines (and MACs I suppose, but havent tested it).Thus can, as example, run linux server and windows client, both using completely different packages, but because of RFC2217 they know how to communicate.

I wanted this in order to save time and effort but since I couldnt get it working I am basically running to the printer myself with a memory card. The data is going through but its all gibberish and thus, unusable.
